Shappi Khorsandi brings her sell-out tour to Mid Devon

One of the leading lights in female stand-up is taking her comedy tour to Tiverton on Friday 13 February. Shappi Khorsandi has carved a niche place for herself on the UK comedy scene, not for her femininity or race, but through sharp wit and effortless story-telling that gives the very best in British comedy talent a run for its money.

Her tour  “Because I’m Shappi” sold out both at the Edinburgh Fringe last year and on her Autumn tour of the UK. So she’s squeezing a new UK tour of the show into her hectic schedule that has seen her perform across Europe in January as well as bringing up a new baby.

Armchair comedy fans will know her from Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, and Have I Got News for You. In this live show Shappi reflects on the good things, and she celebrates her haphazard, zigzag towards her dreams. She introduces us to friends, family and total strangers who have helped her on her personal Yellow Brick Road.

Steve Lodge, who has run Tiverton’s Comedy Hall for 8 years and has booked the tour, said: “Shappi is unique and at a time when cultures seem to be clashing it will be refreshing to have a much-loved, well-respected comic of Iranian origin making Mid Devon laugh. The show has almost sold out which is testament to how good Shappi really is.“

Shappi is at Tiverton Community Arts Theatre on Friday 13th February from 8pm. The last few tickets are available from www.comedyhall.lan or from the TCAT Box Office on 01884 233741.
