Stuart Goldsmith backed by legendary Steve Bowditch

October 1st sees the welcome return of Stuart Goldsmith to the New Hall stage. Lots has happened since his last appearance in 2008, including a lengthy appearance on the ITV1 comedy-knock out talent show Show Me The Funny.
An adventurer at heart, Stuart ran away from home to join the circus, took his entertaining skills to the people as a street performance, and then embarked on acting before settling on stand-up. He has gone on to perform all over the UK and Europe and he has supported sell-out comedians Mark Watson and Paul Sinha on their national tours.

Stuart says: “I’m used to having to claw an audience out of thin air! You walk onto a deserted street with just a suitcase and your wits, and you have to make things happen or you can’t pay the rent!” He’s taken these skills to Edinburgh, with his hugely popular show PR!CK getting fantastic reviews, including “Expert stand-up” from The Times and “Brilliant” from fellow comedian Johnny Vegas.

The opening comic not only gained popularity as one third of an act acclaimed as creating one of the most famous comedy performances ever, he is enjoying TV fame on prime time ITV. Steve Bowditch and his trio The Greatest Show on Legs created The Balloon Dance, seen on shows such as Chris Tarrant’s OTT in the 80s. The performance involved Steve, alongside the late comedy godfather Malcolm Hardee, dancing naked with balloons. Now Steve bills himself as a stand-up master of magic illusion with comedy songs. He too has returned from Edinburgh, with his group ‘We Should Get A Boat’ getting 5 star reviews for their show “Sherlock Holmes and the Return of the Hound”, a musical comedy thriller.

Steve Lodge, who established Comedy Hall five years ago, said: “Steve is a legend among comedy enthusiasts, and the reaction to both Stuart and Steve coming to Tiverton has lit up my Twitter account and the Comedy Hall group on Facebook.”

To complete an evening of laughs the compere for the night is Canadian, Craig Campbell, whose reputation on the global comedy scene is at an all-time high. He has added extra months to his UK tour, is supporting Frankie Boyle’s national outing and is a regular on radio comedy and chat shows.
