A Strange Wild Song is a tale about photographs, childhood and memory, where fragments of a half-remembered war invade a photographer’s present-day calm. October 1st sees the welcome return of Stuart Goldsmith to the New Hall stage. Lots has happened since his last appearance in 2008, including a lengthy appearance on the ITV1 comedy-knock out talent show Show Me The Funny. An adventurer at heart, Stuart ran away from home to join the circus, took his entertaining skills to the people as a street performance, and then embarked on acting before settling on stand-up. Fast Show’s Simon Day brings some character to Tiverton A legend of British comedy will bring many of the faces that have made his name to Tiverton on August 6th. Simon Day has been a star of The Fast Show, Down the Line, Bellamy’s People and his own Radio 4 character comedy show. Headlining at 2nd July’s Comedy Hall show is Bath comedian Tom Craine. Tom will be all over the BBC this summer, featuring on Russell Howard’s Good News, presenting a history documentary called Bitesize History for BBC2, and as part of the threesome Jigsaw on Russell Kane’s Live At The Electric on BBC3. His ‘From Jesus to Jayz” documentary on Glastonbury will be broadcast this summer on BBC2, and he’s also headlining Sketchorama on Radio 4. Variety is the order of the day at Tiverton’s Comedy Hall on May 7. But certainly not in the musical hall sense. Compere for the evening is late-night TV host and comedienne JoJo Smith. She has been described as more blue than Jo Brand by the Independent, but neither Brand nor Smith have to rely on bad-taste jokes about sex. Who is Sir Tim Fitzhigham? Switzerland, Tiverton, Melbourne…? In 1998 Tim first started to make people laugh, having made his way up a goats track at the top of a hill to West Indian rum shack. With a 300-seat capacity, there will be no shortage of laughter at Tiverton Communty Arts Theatre at Tiverton High School this Monday (February 6th). Tiverton’s popular Comedy Hall will take its monthly show there for the first time, bringing three bright young stand-ups to the stage.
