Comedy legend Bob Mills comes to Devon as our comedy guest on June 3rd. Bob hasn’t been off of our TVs and radios since he started out in comedy in 1983, and is often attributed as the bridge between alternative and modern comedy. He was the star of cult TV series such as In Bed with Medinner and The Show, and as the 90s daytime quiz host of Win, Lose or Draw in ITV. Few would know he also starred in Doctor Who opposite Peter Davison, and he also wrote the very successful Michael Barrymore comedy Bob Martin, the Robson . . .
TV favourite Alistair McGowan comes to Tiverton’s Comedy Hall with a brand-new show. “Wickedly funny mimicry” – Sunday Mirror His new two-hour show will be asking the big questions like: would the world be a happier place if Ed Miliband was Prime Minister? What are we really thinking while watching Shakespeare? And is Hilary Devey Jessie J’s mum? Expect to hear everyone from Andy Murray to Colin Murray, riffs on everything from Jeff Stelling to bad spelling and at least one song about butter. Warning: May contain puns! Previous finalists have included Carly Smallman, Wouter Meijs, Kate Lucas, Darren Walsh, Jay Foreman, Damian Kingsley and last year’s winner Pete Beckley. Big laughs will soon be on the bill at Tiverton Community Arts Theatre, with the announcement that Tiverton’s popular comedy club has signed up to use the theatre from 2013. Comedy Hall will run 11 monthly shows at TCAT, and was previously based at the New Hall, operated by Tiverton Town Council. A trio of talented TV comics with sharp opinionated wit, ‘lanky eccentricity’ and hilarious ‘crash and burn’ stories are sure to delight in December’s offering from The Comedy Hall in Tiverton. This month’s headliner is the acerbic but self-effacing Paul Sinha. He’s thoughtful and political, but there’ll be no shortage of smart and knowing punchlines.
